Does anyone have any recommendations for where to buy parts for a Honda BF2.3 outboard?

I appreciate it is an older model. I rashly took apart the carb due to an idling problem but now can't find replacement gaskets. I suppose I could buy some sheets of gasket paper and make my own but this is a very popular engine, I see loads of them flitting about here and there.

Although I know the part number google is not helping me. Would rather not pay a dealership premium but I suppose if it came to it they are cheap parts. Having said that Pacermarine doesn't list the item on their web page either.

Found Evans marine service On eBay. Advertising bf2 carb. *
*Honda specialists. Tel 07923 272560 Very helpful and supplied an odd sized
Bolt from stock by post for minimal charge when local main Honda dealer wanted £8 plus vat and had to be ordered in. O connection other than very satisfied customer. (Many thanks Steve).

Pretty sure that Evans Marine is steve66 of this parish. He is the 'go to' expert on small Honda outboards.

I've taken the carb on ours apart more times than I care to remember and I've never replaced a gasket!

Actually I can only think of one gasket and that's the one between the carb and the block. If it looks ok then it probably is ok.

There are two gaskets. The first is between the airbox and the carb. The second is on the opposite face between the carb and the block. The gaskets do seem to be fragile and are easily torn if the carb is removed to clean the bowl or unblock the jet. You must be more careful than me!

You are all right...three although on this occasion the one nearest the block escaped in tact whilst the others tore on removal... Thanks for the info.

Nothing to do with gaskets, but a tip for that Honda engine you might find useful.
There is just room under the hood to break the fuel line and insert a small in-line fuel filter, if you can wait a few weeks they cost under a pound delivered if you buy on line from China

I like another poster was always stripping my carburettor to clean it, since I fitted that fuel filter I havent had to do it once.

Thanks BlueChip, have ordered one.

Interestingly, I note BangGood also sell 12V mini PCs. This might be good for running OpenCPN etc.

If you drain your float bowl there is no need to fit another filter. The inline filters are no finer in mesh than the one already fitted to it
