Hi, I have a fuel leak where the fuel tank connector connects to the engine. Would this cause air to enter the carb and make the engine want to die when you rev it. Another symptom is that the when you pump the fuel bulb it does not go hard.
The engine starts and ticks over fine but does not want to rev up. Can anyone help please?

As a gerneral rule, if fuel can get out the air will get in. Judging by the symptoms you describe, it sound as though you need to renew the connector and/or fuel hose, although it's certainly worth making sure there isn't any dirt in the connector first. Sort that and your bulb will harden when squeezed (!) and engine will rev.

I had similar problems on a 5HP.
DON'T buy a cheap pattern part as the clip doesn't locate the connector properly and the "0" rings invariably give trouble.
The Honda part is nearly 4 times the price, but at least it works.

Sometimes you can overcome the fault by physically pushing and holding the connector further on. It does, however, mean you need a new connector.
