On this engine I got the spark plug caps off and slid the rubber covering from HT leads to check for breaks. I think wires are copper with a silver coating on them.
Had to thread some twine through and then pull the wire back through rubber lead. Covered it with full shrink tube and heated to finish it. Anyway I dont see any way to separate HT leads from coil.............surely not!

But if you're asking whether it is possible to separate the HT leads from the coil, I don't think it is on my mid 90's BF8A 4 stroke twin. The leads ***may*** be screwed onto a threaded spike in the coil, but you might wrench them off if you try to find out!

Why do you want to take them off?

Posting the model/year of the engine may help someone give a more definitive answer.

You can get a joining piece which is screw in to either side from a decent motor factor.
I also have a pair of coils and leads for a BF8 in my shed.
Actually, thats a fib, as they are for a Volvo Penta MB2A-50S, which is of course, the same thing with a saildrive leg on it.
 
Yes I was meaning surely I don`t have to replace the coil to renew Ht leads. It is the model just before the very latest one and has CDI ignition. It would be nice to get the leads out of coil but I suspect they are bedded in resin into it . Bare wires lead right out of coil with no sign of a fixing as I have had all rubber sheilding off.Thanks for offer but I have a single coil and later ignition system I think Anyone know for sure?

And a better CAST flywheel. The one on the BF8 is pressed steel and rusts pushing the magnets into contact with the stator.
