Does anyone know how to replace the water impellor on this model? I don't have the manual and what should be a relatively simple job has got me baffled. Nothing seems to come apart even though all visible fastenings have been removed.

Any help would be gratefully received.

Is this an old model? I have just bought a new Honda 2HP and it is air cooled, hence no pump, no impeller.

Don't know this engine but are you sure you've disonnected the gear linkage too? It'll be inside a little cover on the side of the leg. Lift off the cover and just loosen the screws\bolts on the linkage. Don't need to take the bolts right out, just loosen them one or two turns and the leg should then just pull off.

Thanks for your reply. Yes it is an old model and it is water cooled. We have already bought the impeller from the Honda dealer, who told us we would have to dismantle the leg to fit it. Trouble is we can't get the leg off.

Thanks for the advice. We don't seem to have a cover on the outside of the leg.
Maybe there is some other way of getting to the gear linkage.

Will have another go tomorrow, meanwhile, hope someone who is familiar with type comes up with something.

Thanks anyway,

The engine itself is air cooled. But, the exhaust is water cooled, and there is a water pump located in the "bulb". To access the water pump, you have to remove the "bulb" (called gearcase). To remove the gearcase, remove two bolts, the one on the upper front side of the gearcase, the other one accessed from behind the propeller, which has to be removed.

It's not easy to explain, try. If you want I could fax you the relevant pages of my good maintenance book. Let me know.
BTW, it is recommended to replace all seals, O-rings and gaskets as well. Be sure to have them before starting to dismantle!

Good luck!
