Hi guys, got one of these, it's great and has be ultra reliable. I serviced it myself last year, it's only a year old.

Last week when putting it back into the boat hold I noticed that when turning the prop by hand it would squeak further up the shaft. I "think" it's the clutch, given that this motor has a centrifugal clutch. Anyone know if this is common? It sounds like it's coming from just below the engine itself and it's where I would think the clutch mechanism is.

Cheers

OK, well, if I turn it slowly but constantly it's a contineous squeak. If I turn it a bit fast, flick it so to speak, the squeak goes. There is also a clunk clunk clunk that is going with the squeak. Maybe this is just normal and I've never noticed it before?

Just sounds like another agricultural Honda, tough as old boots, but...........

Our inflatable plus Honda outboard capsized once in a gust [noone on board] and a week or so later the Honda developed a nasty squeak. The agent said that the bearing associated with the clutch is sensitive to salt water [!] and always needed replacing if the motor got dunked.
