Honda 2.3, seized transom bracket screws

Common issue with these....I have built a tool. I use a socket eith a slit cut in it . I heat alloy clamp part ...put the slit socket into an impact driver...add oil to the thread and its really as easy as that. Substitute the impact driver for a socket wrench if you havent an impact wrench

With a Tohatsu - or others types with a squared/flat end through which the handle attaches - you'll find that if, like me, the first thing you do is snap the handle off (!), a small spanner will fit (or multi-point socket will hammer on to) the end, allowing you the leverage to start going to town.

I've been following this thread with interest. Was getting nowhere with Plus Gas and other concoctions, neither with heat nor brute force. I have solved the problem by buying a second-hand transom clamp complete on eBay. Seemed to be the practical solution.

That’s not the PBO solution ?.

As I reported in post #20, a pressure cooker worked when everything else failed. Well worth a try.

I used to have a pressure cooker, but alas, no more. And a PC was going to cost more than the transom bracket. I really do try to live up to the PBO ethos, but sometimes life is just too short!
