Look, the trick is. Always have boat ready. Dont make any long term plans. If it looks right when you wake up, go. Other wise. turn left or right out of Holyhead and just go tuther way. Same method as any where else. You never need be disapointed. Or it's very rare. Only dissapontment is if you set a plan to go some where. Then cant.

50 ft boat, quite ok up to F6. It aint going to have a problem in F8.

A smouth crossing will be in F4 or 5. Uups. you need a captain who knows his stuff. Tried it tuther way. It dont work.

No problem during a gap in the frontal systems. This Irish sea is a mill pond compared to the Atlantic west coast and the swell at that time of year, but the Irish sea is easier to find a weather window any time of year and the windows are wider. Unlike the Atlantic coast, Irish sea swell decays quite quickly after a blow, whereas west it can take days of settled weather especially in winter.
