okay it's that time of year again... holiday time for us in the next few weeks. I have 16days off and don't know where to go.

boats based in the solent. been to most places west of chichester to falmouth and from leharve down to brest. Holiday plans never work out due to weather. but a rough initial direction to head in does help. what would the panel do for a change.

where are your favorite destinations.

Eastbourne. Ideal for a granny groper.

VERY quick perusal of chart shows weather rubbishy until the weekend with westerlies. So I'd head west cos I'm usually wrong ;-) How about Scillies cos by the time yo get there assuming a gentle cruise west the weather will have settled and easerlies set in just in time for the return trip?

Pre-position at Falmouth. Then off to southern Ireland, landfall around Cork. Gently cruise west until it's time to go home.

Why? The craic. Friendly natives. Closely spaced anchorages and mooring spots - inexpensive and not overcrowded with yachts. Good restaurants. Live music. Pick your mussels off the rocks. Keep the seals at bay. Enjoy the porpoises and dolphins. Some interesting pilotage challenges. And a really good passage via the Scilly Islands outbound - or inbound.

Disadvantages? Take an umbrella; useful when it's not too windy.
