Hi guys all set up ready to go ,would you rent your boat as holiday home with out them taking it out of your mooring .

Absolutely not!
Too many soft surfaces on the interior which could get damaged by children or clumsy drunk adults.

Not a hope. I hardly let SWMBO get messy on the boat, never mind a stranger. Simply not worth the potential return. As said above, boat is full of soft furnishings. A holiday apartment will be fitted with either really strong furniture or stuff so cheap they just throw away and replace

Ultimately it would depend who it was. I have friends who are not boaters who I may allow to use it as such, as I know they would respect it, not fiddle with anything, have the sense to highlight and sort out any issues that might arise and have the means to pay for any damage. But let it to non-boating unknowns - no chance.

I always thought that the worst place in life was the waiting area at Argos.

However it would easily be beaten by sitting at work worrying about the people living on your boat, and I would not care what they were paying!

Holiday lettings/trip advisor are trying to move into this area...it will be interesting to see how they get on. I know that air bnb and flip key have had some success. Its an area that we have always steered away from, (I have a letting agency in the SW), as the admissions cost for the holiday maker in terms of knowledge are high. Likewise you would, as an owner, need 2mil pl insurance along with marine charter ins of some sort...I know this is being fudged by a good few owner/landlords at the moment but there is an accident/law suit waiting to happen.
Best to either charter properly or not rent under any kind of licence.
I would imagine that permanently moored, non moving 'houseboats' are a different matter tho'.....

Ye iam with all of you you would have to chain it to yhe jetty unblock the loo every week and the instruments god help us i thought it was a **** idea just looking for the reaction which was good .roy

I have done it here in the Med. Used to let it to people who came for a weekends sailing course then stayed on for 5 days holiday on my sailing boat. They did not take it out but the return (£100 a night) was not worth the hassle of repairs and maintenance. Even people who know boats can get drunk and have accidents....especially with red wine.

Ah, but a Bayliner's plastic surfaces can't be damaged as easily as wood, everything is easily replaceable and cheap if you get it from the US direct. £100 a night is around 100% return on the boat's value per year, great.
