Holiday on Upper Thames

I'm taking my 2000 CE marked petrol powered (No Gas)sports cruiser on the upper Thames for a 2 week holiday, but I'm totally confused by the requirements for the BSS. As I understand it I do not need a BSS for a holiday but I have to sign a form to say the boat is BSS compliant. Am I right? will any one actually physically check my boat?Any thoughts any one?

If you are just buying a Visitors Permit don't worry. They don't hassle you. The only hassle you will get is obtaining petrol, because of their regulations only about two places on the whole Thames now sells Petrol.
You see they feel it is far safer for you to trek to a garage, get cans, and fill up bankside. (If you don't have a funnel even better.)
Apart from that you will enjoy the trip.

Thanks for the info. I,m hoping to fill the boat up on the motorway on the way there and with a bit of luck it should last the holiday.

I don't know where you intend launching but if it is local to me I can give you safe storage for your vehicle and trailer. EMail me byrona@royal.net
