You really should remove the old tank, and either do away with it completely or find a plastic tank that will fit. As said this will be tale of woe and it'll ruin whats left of the season and all of next season when it goes wrong!
When we had a holding tank we had it set for gravity discharge, very rarely failed; just shut off the sea-cock and it holds, open it and off it went. I decided to get rid of mine as I needed the space for storage and I was really pissed of when the plastic outlet sheared off depositing the contents over the heads floor and cupboards! 10 minutes with a hand saw and off it went ashore in two pieces.....never to be replaced to date and I eon't miss it either!
