Holding tank breather - fit an air pump?

I fitted one of these

it works well, trust the Americans to come up with a fix

I may give this try if the tanks starts to pong perhaps with a small PC cooling fan though it may work better with a second restricted breather on the tank. It would then have negative pressure to prevent smell escaping plus fresh air to prevent anaerobic respiration of the bacteria.

Save your money ... pump some Thetford 'blue' up it after you've put anything substantial in it!

Thetford blue may give you grief with the pollution people green which has no formaldehyde may be a better bet though many caravanners now use liquid bio washing stuff which even gives your poo a pleasant smell of your choice. Aldi and Lidl are favourites

We followed the "don't put anything in the holding tank except sewage" instructions when we first got to the Med. And had lovely stinks from the breather pipe every time we flushed the head. We now use whatever holding tank treatment fluid that can be had - often Thetford, more frequently locally made stuff. Works a treat.
