Now that I have bought a new Raymarine multifunction display for the cockpit, I would like to see/control the mfd from the chart table on an android tablet. I have a flat panel covered with black leather look vinyl stuck onto aluminium. I am planning to buy a 12inch tablet on eBay

Sticking velcro to the tablet and the vinyl is unlikely to work, as pulling the tablet away, will pull the vinyl off the aluminium.

So I am wondering about a neat way of holding the tablet flush to the panel.

Any ideas? I wondered if there are some corners that I could screw over the corners of the tablet to hold it onto the panel

Thanks

I bought a mount from Amazon, butchered the mount sucker thing and screwed it to the side of my wheelhouse. This holds it very securely and is easily demountable

I use the same type for my 10" Xperia - so far the sucker has been reliable but I think I will glue it or screw it rather than risk smashing the tablet if it fails.

I've had my iPad on a 'wallee' for about 3 years on the boat, works well.

Have a Google and see if there is one for your tablet, very secure and less than £20.

Try Vogel: they do a vertical wall mount for tablets up to 12" in size on Amazon. They do a good one for iPads which is very neat and secure and easily detachable.

I think I will try using a flip cover case and remove the cover and screw the back of the case to the panel - I will post back the outcome

With regards to double sided tape, I think that this would be the best way to attach the vinyl to the aluminium panel. The 3M site has lots of different tapes. Which would you recommend for sticking the vinyl sheet to the aluminium?

Thanks

I suggest you email them for advice and they will point you to the right stuff, they have many different types.
