HItting the wall. Thinking about bailing out.

Budget, both in time and materials, will be the big issue - but I do think he's made it harder for himself by binning everything. Hopefully he took lots of pictures as he ripped out. A good enthusiastic DIY person can re-make most things if they have a template to work to and a clear view of the end product. He's very likely capable given other, non-boaty projects he mentions, but fitting out a boat with no related trade skills or anything to work too makes it more difficult. I suspect from the comments (but hopefully wrong) that he will start on areas, then buy in expertise until costs sink the budget and will then abandon... Shame, as I too would like to follow progress. I think he perhaps mistook the well-meaning years of knowledge and advice on here as personal criticism instead? (You definitely need a tough skin at times... ?)

Although keeping bits for templates is a good idea, did not the op say he was changing the set up of lay out.

Says who ?

I’ve seen many refits where the entire interior and machinery have been thrown out and refitted.

I have no doubt our friend with the p35 will do what he set out to do.

However I doubt he will post on here sadly.

Many parts or materials can be reused as well as fixings. Certain things can be used as templates. Other materials can be used as temp works.

Blimey….only been a few weeks!

Take a breath. You have gone mad early doors…..it’s a marathon I’m afraid

im trying to be motivating. Throwing away all the interior was a little mistake (use the old parts for patterns) but it just takes time and lots of effort. You’ll get there. Shopping about and not buying “boat” stuff helps costs loads! Keep going ?

Looks great im in the process now, what material did you use for the white walls in a galley?

They are wood so sanded down…zinseer bin primer and bathroom paint! 5 years on…still looking good apparently ?

Need a new thread on what you’re doing @Falcoron….with photos ??

Yes i will some day, i have a lot from the start and going through a lot more, its been a hell of a year with family illness, 200 mile round trip to and from boat, so only weekend stints, I've replaced the wiring mess the battery bollox and the heating catastrophises so far and that has cost thousands, been in the bilge for months, cleaning out 2 large diesel tanks, replacing all fuel valve, lines filters et al. finished fitting an oil fired water heating system with large calorifier and radiators throughout the boat. Now now just finishing holding tank, black and fresh water systems and electric toilet,
and shower pumps to fit. When that is completed I'm onto the interior which i stripped out back to the glass fibre. :0
But looking forward to not trying to squeeze into the engine area with 2 very large Hino WO6D turbos and a fat old man :)
