Hitching a ride in San Francisco Bay

I'm holidaying here for the next two weeks (San Francisco of course). My son's friend had offered a sail in the bay, but has been "drafted" to Europe by his employer and won't be back until I've left. Anyone here fancy a crewmember for a day or an evening?

You could get yourself along to the St.Francis YC (head west from Fisherman's Wharf but I can't remember how far along it is!) and try your luck there?

go to www.catalina38.org register on the free mailing list (bottom left hand corner of home page) and post a message there. Over half the members sail in SF Bay and C38 owners are always short of crew.

You could also email Dennis Minnick at dennis@415images.com and he may well be able to fix you up with a ride. Tell him Mark Turner suggested you contact him and give him my best wishes. You can go over the SF Bridge to Sausilito(?) and rent a day sailer at low cost with little formality. You can then sail round Alcatraz and explore some lovely little inlets to the Bay. The only stipulation as I recall is the you shouln't sail under the Bridge!!
