I'm trying to find the inshorewaters/shipping forecast for the previous 7 days, mainly yesterday, but cant find any websites with historical data....anyone gone something for yesterday? Or better still a site with all the history!

I asked the same question of somebody from the Met Office at the last Wind and Sailing Event. Sadly, the answer was not what I expected and ran along the lines of, you will need to contact MCA. I get round it by getting the forecast emailed to me via Home Page which drops a copy of the forecast into my inbox.

I wish that the Met Office would provide the historic data, we all know they have it.

Drop me a private message with your email address and I can forward what I have.

Do you want the forecast or the data?

I think they like to bury forecasts as soon as they can.

Some sites like Hurst Castle Wind and Chimet have archive data of actual wind you can download if that's any help?

They do indeed. I have seen the rows of files on the shelves of the archives . I was able to look up the weather on my birthday, not that it was broadcast in WWII. Unless its digitised the cost of making it available its probably prohibitive.

Hmmmm..........my niece has just started working at the Met Office, (all my doing, I first interested her in sailing, then later arranged for her to have a guided tour of Ireland's Met Office, through a meteoroligist friend). Perhaps I could persuade her to raid the archives!

BBC Iplayer is worth a try, you don't need to hold a TV license to access it. Many Radio 4 broadcasts are kept available for some time.
Edit, I just checked, and they are all available from 23/09/21 onwards, so you should be sorted. If you want a hard copy not subject to the whims of the internet, record it on a cassette recorder.
