Looking to stow a sword anchor, considering one of the following; deck chocks, hinged bow roller addition or existing small roller with new hole in sword to secure. Is it possible to buy an add on to adapt a single bow roller to convert to hinged?

G'day Bumblefish,

I must admit I'm not at all Keen about hinged rollers unless you find a very well designed and built version; I have to sight one.

Can you install a fixed roller with a suitable extension to avoid gelcoat repairs every season due to your sword anchor moving around when being lifted.

Also look for a locking pin on the roller support and deck protection at the inboard end. a roller with a slot wide enough for the chain links will also help support the roller in the correct position when stowed and pinned.

I Hope this helps.

Avagoodweekend......

The Vetus rollers are well designed and robust but rather expensive.
There are various Italian made versions which can be difficult to source.
I got mine from Russell Simpson in Newhaven, they will order anything
from their huge catalogue range. My main criticism of them is that the rollers
are held in place by machine screws which undo despite loctite or similar.
I reattached the front roller with a through bolt, much more reliable.
