I am trying to source a supplier of six hinge pins for the forward hatch on my Westerly Konsort. Right now, I'm struggling to download photos, but I need plastic pins of about 8mm diameter with a "head" of about 10mm diameter, total length about 45 mm each. A bit like a plastic version of a small socket head bolt. If I'd had to guess last week what they were made of, I'd have said stainless steel, but it's a hard plastic. Now gone brittle and sheared.
I'll try to post some pictures tomorrow. Many thanks.

I heard that there’s a member of the WOA who manufactures and sells them (on a small scale, I presume, for other members). I’d ask them if you haven’t already.

Would it be possible to replace them with stainless bolts of the right diameter? Say socket head cap screws, you would have to cut off excess thread and fit Nyloc nuts. I am thinking of doing this on my Pasport deck hatch.

I have made some of these a while ago, in acetal, they were for an unknown make of hatch but sound very similar to what you need, may need the 15mm section longer though?

I am also a member of the WOA and make rudder bushes as well as other bits for Westerly's

from Yachtsnet photos this appears to be a Canpa hatch as on our vesssel so hinge pins as the photo here :

I have found that a well known brand of fixing plug can be used as a replacement, possibly Fischer and pretty tough .Reinforce with a pin if you feel it necessary. They stay in place with the fins being in the right position.

Many thanks to DinghyMan and Bluerm166. I will have to do some accurate measurement if I want the pins made to measure, but now I have your contact details via the website. Pins and fixing plugs may well do the job as well. Note that I can't find a makers name anywhere on the hatch. Perhaps under a few coats of paint.

I've finally managed to attach the photos. For those who struggle to upload high-quality megapixel photos, my tip is to send them to yourself at degraded quality level, say 200k pixels and then save them to photo file. Upload the lower quality photos as you see below. All applies to iPad.

Thanks again.79D517B9-3AB1-4730-8305-2D202FFD8D81.JPG16F5CFA9-4FCA-40F3-90CC-3D87FE0C4D9B.JPG16F5CFA9-4FCA-40F3-90CC-3D87FE0C4D9B.JPG

As said above these are CANPA hatches made by/for Camper and Nicholson in the 80's ( also ftted to some Sadlers for instance as well as Seals ).Pins for which you will either need to improvise or have fabricated. The photo above shows the original plastic hinge pin with a Fischer Universal plug ref F8x50 (x40 probably also) from DIY store alongside, which does the job well having a nice cap as well as fins. Here is my 2013 note of the dimensions of the original pins, which match the dims kindly shown by Dinghyman so offering you another solution.IMG_20210209_144131937.jpg

Many thanks for a superb response. Looks like I have a CANPA hatch and need to improvise some pins. Bluerm166and Dinghyman have given great advice. You've encouraged me to improvise. Best wishes to both of you.

Thanks to all. Just a thought about PetiteFleur's suggestion of using stainless steel bolts. I think the hatch is aluminium. If yours is the same, think of stainless/aluminium corrosion. Best wishes.

Yes galvanic corrosion unless you can separate them with some sort of barrier. Better to use same metals or strong reinforced plastic.

Many thanks for all of the advice given. I've just fitted Fischer plugs as recommended and reinforced them by drifting in (gently) short lengths of aluminium rod of about 3mm diameter. The hatch is now back to normal and working well. Great advice!

same hatch used on my Sadler 26 1982 - @DinghyMan: would you be able to make few for me? I cant PM you as the system does not allow me due to some protection against the robot Spams. (You cannot send pms as a new member until you have made a number of posts.) thx Pav

We shut the website & company down earlier this month as we will be closed for a while, may be back at the end of summer or may just have a clear out of any stock items and retire
