Highly resistant UV paint for wood?

This isn't actually for my boat but I know I'd get a slightly more sensible answer here rather than on a DIY forum.

I need a recommendation for decent paint for a wooden balustrade in France. It get masses of sun all year round. The general stuff from B&Q I've found doesn't last very long.

Has anyone got any personal recommendation for a particularly UV and waterproof paint or alternative finish. I'm unsure of the wood but I think it is a trated soft wood rather than hardwood. It'llbe sanded back to roughly to give a reasonable surface for a new paint to adhere to.

Epifanes, brilliant but not cheap. longevity is all in the prep and multiple coats with suitable sanding.

If you sand it back to wood, then I would use Sadolin Extra. It lasts for years on my window frames, including the south facing ones (southern UK).

Epifanes Rapidclear or Rapidcoat (Woodfinish is excellent but is designs for Teak and Iroko). All are designed to resist UV - and do.

In the long-gone days when i used to paint my house I found microporous ranch paint lasted longest.

I can't remember what make of paint but it may well have been Dulux.

I have used a Sikkens product called 'Filter 7' but you need to apply 6 coats for a 5 year life.

We have switched to polysiloxane based paints for our FRP products we make for high uv environments, used to use polyurethanes but polysiloxanes are more resistant to uv degradation by some orders of magnitude. Don’t know if polysiloxane based paints are available for wood?

I have used a product called rystix timbacare.

I used it both on my boat and an iroko garden benched. I live at 6000 ft above sea level so are subject to a much higher of UV than you will in the UK.

The developer has a wood house on the coast and developed this to protect his house which i was told is pictured on the tin.

For what it's worth, another vote for Sadolin. Also in France with high UV and I have found it the most durable product of the many I have tried.

If the balustrade is white, use Epifanes Nautiforte White 750ml. Never fades or discolours. Boat with two coats on topsides rolled on with foam roller, but suitable for brushing as well.

I hope not, I have just put 1 coat of cetol xls on my launch & 2 coats of Filter 7 . As Sikkens recommendation. I know the product works because I supplied 650 windows to the london borough of Southwark & they were still OK 9 years later. LBS do not maintain anything very often.
However, my house is painted with Sandtex flexicoat & needs re painting every 7 years. It is an excellent paint & I put it on 28 windows & doors when I built the house & there has been no sign of failure or colour fade after 21 years
But it is UK not France

1 coat of Sikkens Primer plus 1 coat of Sikkens Rubbol has lasted over 10 years on our summerhouse. It's starting to crack a bit in places now, but I don't believe any regular single pot yacht type paint would have lasted that long let alone in such a pitiful lack of coats.
