Good wishes from England

An original verse from God Save the King seems appropriate:

Lord Grant that Marshal Wade
May by thy mighty aid
Victory bring
May he sedition hush
And like a torrent rush
Rebellious Scots to crush
God save the King

With the passing of time (and the crushing of the Scots) the national Anthem was sanitised, with the expurgation of the above and the substition of terrible Victorian schmaltz:

One realm of races four
Blest ever more and more
God save our land
Home of the brave and free
Set in the silver sea
True nurse of chivalry
God save our land

Re: Good wishes from England

Yes - General Wade, the great roadbuilder, wouldn't you have thought that such a visionary would have thought to put in a strategy for ongoing maintenance and improvements.
