Highest tides this weekend

I was surprised yesterday/Friday to note that no-one I met - boat owners, yardies, office 'admirals' - in/around Hamble Point Marina seemed to be aware of the forecast 'highest tides for 20 years'. Are they all so detached now from the real world....?

Flood warnings have been issued throughout the UK this weekend, as the biggest high tides for two decades combine are set to combine with unsettled weather.....

The high tides are already taking their toll in some parts of the country.....

The east coast, parts of the south coast, as well as Devon, Cornwall and the Bristol Channel are also likely to be hit by flooding from Saturday into Monda

Tides can certainly go below predictions and chart datum due to meteorological and other factors .

Predictions can also be negative, ie below chart datum, locally because the chart datum is based on a standard reference point and is not necessarily LAT locally .

Yep, a strange reaction to high tides in and around Teignmouth coast area; the flood gates were left open around the high tide, 5.1 predicted, certainly the highest tides for a while here, flotsam well up to top of beaches and water into some low lying local roads, but certainly not much council or flood warden activity around here :?
Weather though dead calm, some canoeists in the estuary, bright sunshine, a good day to be on the water, for some :(
The high tides that went un noticed, just perhaps ?

This was Kip marine at the last high high water. The boat was on the hard for maintenance any higher water and it could self launch, the blue tank is you’ve guest the fuel storage tank and to the right of the blue tank is where the travel hoist is usually park.
 
If not the highest tides where YOU are, then have a look at the forecast seas heading this way....

One will readily see that Avonmouth, for example, had 14.65m/48 feet predicted this past evening. That's at the top of the 10 Year List....
