Hickory for tiller?

Hickory wood is used for axle handles and other tools because is durable, the grain is straight and flexible. Has anyone used Hickory for a tiller?

Hickory is pretty strong and durable, should be OK if it's protected by varnish.

If Ben Hogan used to shift a hickory shafted golf club in his early days at over 100 mph I think it would work out pretty well. I think he did break a few now and then.

I'm sure that Hickory would be fine.
For much the same reason Ash is frequently used for tillers.

Not sure if I'm 100% right but thought hickory was American in origin and the equivalent of ash over here. I used ash for my tiller and it's been fine for 5 years.
