Nobody sails on the East Coast. We spend the whole time stuck in the mud. Common knowledge.
I didn't think he meant the Arctic.Depends on where and how you sail, certainly from the Tees to the Firth of Forth is excellent cruising ground![]()

Ah!
So you don't mean the east coast of 'God's Country'!!
Terribly sad,
But welcome.

Welcome to the forum. It's worth noting that the East Coast extends from Thurso to Folkestone, and doesn't begin and end at Southend-on-Sea, as some seem to think.
Oz is a bit of a way for me to sail, sorry!
I used to live in Chester-Le-Street so yes, fully familiar with the East Coast up to Newcastle and I loved it. But, and here I’ll be very honest and a little controversial, I do love the Orwell. Best river sailing in the country THAT I’VE VISITED!
No offence meant!
Where is Thurso?
The Blackwater awaits. Proper sailing river.
The Blackwater has its points, but it is less of a 'river' than the Orwell and more like an estuary, so Charlie is not far off in calling the Orwell the finest river. The Deben may be more beautiful and the Ore/Auld more interesting, but the Orwell wins on sailability.
I wasn't me wot said that the Blackwater was a river, it was that MoodySabrey chap. I hadn't thought of it as a ria either but we live and learn, sometimes. My dear chap. The Blackwater is a Ria. Not a river, not an estuary. 'Orwell wins on sailability' ???? Scribble Sir, scribble.
