Hfl generator issue

No problem, I had a lot of trouble locating the manual myself years ago, had to get HFL Germany to scan it for me in the end...!

I stripped my 6kVA down after sea-water ingress and had the stator windings re-wound, which had burnt out, did not expect it to work but it did, perfectly.

A simple but robust little generator. The retained charge needed to the capacitor, to excite the rotor field until it starts up can be a problem if it loses its charge, but you just flash it, as it says in the manual and it works fine, I only had to do this once following the re-build even though the genny was used infrequently.

Thank you. I’ve only owned it nearly 3 years when I bought a 2nd hand boat. It starts great but when loaded the alarm gets louder which I suspect is a cooling issue. I’ve checked for water/oil levels, The strainer and raw water flow but will change the impeller and check the hoses. Any idea what it might be if it’s not that? The smoke monitor also shows amber on the traffic light system which may suggest a bit of exhaust smoke but it’s not that bad.
thanks again
Justin

Not sure, likely primary sea water flow: Change impeller (here is one I changed a few weeks ago on my current boat, with an Onan Genny, I reckon it was time to change, retrieved 'most' of the missing blades) flush through, if you really wanted to clean the heat exchanger, you could try circulating Rydlyme, which would clean the heat exchanger, but remember to remove impeller and any anodes!

Thank you. Weirdly the files you sent me have been deleted or removed in ‘box’. Any idea? Could you try sending again please? Not sure where they went. :(

Hi, has anyone an idea on what impeller and belt to use?
Like many on the forum, have a HFL h2w 6 KVA but no manual or service instructions etc.... Have emailed Germany but no response. Can't get down to physically check but wanted to order the parts in advance!
Cheers in advance

Hi

If you PM me your email address, I will send you a link to the manuals that I have, which were a pain to get hold of...
