OK, I cheated with the header. After the success of story by committee, I was thinking of amending songs by committee, say a sea-shanty (not chanty BTW) by Mr Hendrix, thus;

Ist line: Hey Jimi, whar ye gaun wi' that screwtop in yer haun'

(alternate take: Hey Jimi, whar ye gaun wi' that Lorne sausage in yer haun')

Och tae hell, back tae the mince.

Ode to mal de mer

Purple haze all in my brain
Lately things don’t seem the same
Actin’ funny but I don’t know why
’scuse me while I kiss the sky

Purple haze all around
Don’t know if I’m comin’ up or down
Am I happy or in misery?
Whaterever it is, that motion's put a spell on me

Help me
Help me
Oh I don’t know

Yeah!
Purple haze was all in my eyes
Don’t know if it’s day or night
Its got me spewin’, chucking mah ring
Is it tomorrow or just the end of time?

Who knows?
Help me
Yeah
Come on now
Tell me
Tell me

Well I've seen pictures of Jimi and I think we can hazard a guess at Donald's age now too. Come to think of it I have seen a distant pic of Donald here and he is definitely no spring chicken. I, of course, am a well-informed teenager with an interest in the music of the sixties and seventies.

Spring chicken? Too young to mind the Yardird, but remember Billie, and saw the Duke when I at at skule in Ardrossan. He was playing at the Odeon in Glasgow, yes, Jeep, Gonsalves. Oh yes.

There must be some kind of way out of here
Said the raggie to his wief
There’s too much confusion
I can’t get no relief
Ferries they steal my line
Stinkies take my berth
The Solent used to be fine
Think I'll move to Perth
Hey hey

No reason to get excited
The wief she kindly spoke
There are many here among us
Who feel the Solent's but a joke
But you and I we’ve been through that
And this is not our fate
So let us not talk of moving now
The hour’s getting late
Hey Hey

All along the watchtower
The Coastguard kept the view
While all the boats came and went
Cargo vessels too
Outside in the cold distance
A jetski it did growl
Two riders were approaching
And the yottie began to howl
Hey

Re: Ode to mal de mer

After all the boats are in their berths and the crews have all gone to bed
You can hear Jimi staggering on down the street
Footprints dressed in mud and the wind whispers Jimi

A broom is drearily sweeping up the broken pieces of a poster’s life
Somewhere a SWMBO is weeping somewhere a king has no life
And the wind it cries Jimi

The nav lights they turn of blue tomorrow
And shine their emptiness down on his bed
The tiny boat sails downstream cause the life that lived is dead
And the wind screams Jimi

Will the wind ever remember the posts it has blown in the past
And with this crutch it’s old age and it’s wisdom
It whispers no this will be the last
And the wind cries Jimi

Little yacht

Well she’s sailing through the waves
With no rudder shes going round
Stays and gybes
bashes and crashes
That’s all she ever thinks about
Riding with the wind.

When I’m sad, she steadies me
With a thousand miles, she gives to me free
It’s alright she says it’s alright
Take anything you want from me, anything
Anything.

Sail on little yacht,
Yeah yeah, yeah, little yacht

Riders on the storm
Riders on the storm
Into this sea we're born
Into this yacht we're thrown
Like a dog without a bone
An actor out alone
Riders on the storm

There's a stinkie on the road
His brain is squirmin' like a toad
Take a long holiday
Let your children play
If ya give this man a ride
Sweet memory will die
Stinkie on the road, yeah

Girl ya gotta love your boat
Girl ya gotta love your boat
Take her by the tiller
Make her understand
The world on you depends
Our life will never end
Gotta love your boat, yeah

Wow!

Riders on the storm
Riders on the storm
Into this sea we're born
Into this yacht we're thrown
Like a dog without a bone
An actor out alone
Riders on the storm

Riders on the storm
Riders on the storm
Riders on the storm
Riders on the storm
Riders on the storm

OK - so it's not Hendrix, but it is a Jim!
