Herne Bay - Kent Anyone Boat here

Had a trip to Herne Bay in Kent Yesterday.... What we could see (lots of mist) looked very nice and at the time it was very calm. I was wondering if there is much boating done here and indeed many places to Launch. I recon launching say a Sib from the Beach would be fine but not sure if there is much to visit

We were Whitstable based for 11 years before moving to Poole and the excellent slipway in Herne Bay center was our launch place of choice.
Big sheltered slipway, with lots of parking. Gets busy in Summer. Slipway useable 2hrs each side of high tide.
Your pictures look like Hampton, the slipway is about 1 km to the east.
Other slips at Whitstable harbour to the west and Margate / Ramsgate to the East.
Used to go out to the Maunsel Forts or up the Swale or even up the Medway to Maidstone some times. Also across to Southend.
Other than that its up and down the shore in waters that could never be described as clear!
But we had a lot of fun there, and the waters were often calm being protected from S and SW winds.
But the Thames estuary chop could be evil!

I am Based in Faversham so our cruising, anchoring grounds are the Swale while Seal watching at low tide and fishing all other time.
Great place to be never busy but wind especially easterly can ruin the occasion

While you're down this way, Dover has a beautiful coastline (I think you can launch from Kingsdown or St Margarets or even Dover beach if you're skilled), as does Kingsgate/Joss Bay areas with a launch at Palm Bay Cliftonville, think it's called Foreness boat club.

Herne Bay was one of the spots we were looking at for launching a boat, it does get packed in the summer and launching a boat with lots of people queueing up and impatiently watching could be quite nerve racking for a novice lol, all in it put me off, not enough help or skill to launch and didn't fancy dipping the truck in the water as I've seen some do.

Ramsgate or Deal any good for launching? All a long way from me but we visit friends in Deal. I thought Faversham was lovely. Also a trip up the river on the tide to Sandwich looked like it could be fun - a very pretty and historical place.

There is one at Ramsgate but quite pricey I believe, Kingsdown is just along from Deal. According to gov website you can't launch from Deal only Kingsdown and St Margaret's, The launch at Dover beach is not on the gov website, I believe it's free and I've seen people launch from there and I understand it can be very sketchy unless you are experienced. I can't comment on how good the other two are, I believe shingle beaches and I doubt there are good facilities.

Palm Bay gets mentioned a lot and is a lovely stretch of coast but it's a half hour drive from Deal.

For a trip up the river, there is somewhere to launch at Sandwich and there used to be a private one I believe at Grove Ferry though I understand the owner recently passed so I don't know what the status is there.

Having launched from both the beach at Warden Bay and various official/unofficial slips on Sheppey , on the right day that bit of coast an absolute delight.The forts always worth a visit.
Frequently could run down to Joss Bay or up to Allington lock and back in a small speedboat on a single tide.
However very exposed to N and NE winds, those and very shallow water can lead to very "intereresting" wind over tide chop if you get it wrong.
Would often come home from a hot sunny mainland looking forward to a run out only to find a cold mist hanging around on the water with awful visibility.
