Well, as you may know we have only been boating a matter of weeks and are still finding our feet so to speak. Anyway, where we are berthed, we have had the luxury since the start, of having no-one berthed right next to us and so we've been free to make as many mistakes as we like whilst 'parking' without the worry of bashing someone's pride and joy.
So, my husband took our youngest down to the boat yesterday, stayed over and this morning took the boat out for a short trek around and about, as you do. About 1pm this arvo, I got a call from my hubby saying they were having a lovely time. He sounded a little srange to me so I asked him if all was ok and where was he. He said, in a rather sheepish voice, he was moored up at the end of our berthing slot. I asked "why the hell are you 'parked' up there?" To which he replied "There's a bigger boat 'parked' in that space next to us!...a really nice bigger boat!!" Feeling sorry for him and stifling a chuckle, I asked him if he was being a scaredy cat...he said "Yes!!!"
I laughed my socks off at the thought of him hiding and just waiting for them to go out before he snuck back in.
Anyway, he sat there for a whole two hours before deciding he had to bite the bullet and just go for it. I'm pleased to say all went without a hitch. The neighbours only came out to look when they saw our stern drifting alarmingly close to there's :D. However all was quickly corrected and I can confirm successful docking at 3 p.m. Phew!!

Well done. It does get a bit easier, not much, but a bit.

Now that I have added a RIB to my stable, I will be leave my calling card on neighbouring boats in the form of a long black line.

I aim to make Little Ship my fist victim.

Just told the Admiral and she is bringing a needle down to see how long the rib will float with a pinhole in it!

PS I have already cleaned one black mark off LS I think it was the Scousers?

cant be blaming us scousers for leaving black marks, we TAKE things not LEAVE them!! we have a reputation to uphold you know!!

Tom, of course, was referring to the The Scousers, a well known family that infests our marina and with whom I will soon be RIB racing, hopefully with a terrified Little Ship driver at the wheel.

Apologies to lisilou for the thread hijack.

Incidentally Tom, The Scousers have been texting pictures of themselves 'fingering' my RIB and by now they are probably all over it like a rash.

Get hubby to fender both sides of your boat and have the crew stand by to gently fend off the new neighbours boat, just in case, showing you are careful operators.

Develop a good relationship with the folks next door (which I'm sure you will anyway:)), so if something does happen one day:o, all will be forgiven quickly, and an awkward situation doesn't develop;)
