Here are the Athens Preveza Bus timetable

There are two routes. One via Arta Northern shore of the Gulf of Amvrakia, the other via Aktio along the Southern shore of the Gulf.

From Athens 07:30, 09:30, 1200, via Aktio.
From Athens 13:30, 17:00, 20:00, via Arta.

From Preveza 09:10, 12:20, via Aktio
From Preveza 13:00, 1930, via Arta.

Also 16:30 on Mondays and Fridays Athens - Aktio - Preveza

This is from the Marina Notice board. Looks to me though that with the timetable above, Athens will run out of busses by Saturday.

The 7.30 from Athens does NOT go by Aktio, I was on it 2 weeks ago. I have found it impossible from the timetables to determine which ones go via Aktio.

I find the buses much more preferable to a taxi, I don't get that Kamakazi feeling that I get in a Taxi.....

What a pity. Yes, the route is impossible to determine from the bus timetables which is why I thought the timetable from Ionion Marine in Aktio could be relied on. I tried at the Preveza bus station to get a timetable but all I got was Greek shrug. I wonder if the route taken is decided on by the passenger mix after all they don't seem to stop anywhere en-route. Any idea how to find out. I was hoping to catch the 07:30 to Aktio in a few weeks.

The plot thickens (as they say).

The timetable I copied from the Marina notice board calls out a 09:30 bus via Aktio.

The timetable on the Athens Guide says that the 09:30 bus runs only during the summer timetable (after May 31st). So maybe the timetable from the Marina is a summer timetable. Oh well. The question now is whether to bus Athens Lefkada then to Aktio or Athens Preveza then bus to Aktio.

Lefkada have an excellent web site giving bus times to Aktio which seems to be well organised.

I only chose EasyJet via Athens because Thomson Airlines and Thomas Cook only fly to Aktio on Sundays and a flight warning is up about a threatened ban (strike) by air traffic controllers on every Sunday after Easter until their demands are met. (ie they get paid).

Can't win.

The latest I have heard about the air traffic controlers strike as that it has been deemed illegal, however what may take place is this, the controllers as well as not receiving pay due are under staffed, this may result in serious delays at airports, if possible, it may be better not to try to keep a tight schedule when travelling. In other words the more leaway you can afford (ie, bus timetables) the better, or able to catch a later bus if delayed. I hope it does not come down to this but, the Greek workers seem Very determined to shoot themselves in the foot or anyone near by!
We travelled from Kef to Athens in Feb, en route to Madrid, Canaries, we checked strike updates beforehand as well as watching the weather for the Ferry, an impromtu strike still caught us out in Athens (bus strike) no big deal but instead of a tenner for theX93, it cost 45 for a Taxi, the police had to control the crowds for the Taxis at the bus station, it was not pleasant!
