Sugar, I posted this on the PBO forum by accident.

I used to own one of these wonderful motor yachts in the dim and distant past, a bit of living in past times that's a positive pleasure. This particular boat was almost purchased by me in about 1985 and I came across this site, seems like a nice way to spend a holiday, and not an arm and a leg either.

I'll also post a link to another Herd and MAckenzie, originally known as "Astra Volante" and for sale near Barcelona, now where's that lottery licket?

Euros 450,000 I think it was, and I think I worked that out to £308k. She's probably not more than £50k too much money if her condition is as per the pics. Wooden boats though have always been a bit difficult, less than lovely and she'd have to be sub £200k. That refit was I think done in the mid 90's in Scotland so she may not be looking exactly the same, I have no idea when those pics were taken.

That web sites nothing to do with the brokers, I've known about it a while and it's the owners own.

Both of those are twin screw yacht built so they'd tend to be at the higher end, and Leonor II (Astra Volante) had a bundle spent on her a few years ago, but was afterwards on the market a long time. So hard to sell at a premium. I'm not really up to speed but I think £150k to £240k as a rather broad estimate.

Single engine fishing conversions on the other hand can be just as comfortable and hardly ever sell for over £100k. There's a nice ex Trinity House about somewhere, currently in France I think, asking £145 and been for sale for YEARS. There's what looks to be a very pretty boat for sale, I think in Hull marina, asking £70 ish if I recall, but of course they can be fantastic or truly awful rot buckets, you never know till you look.

My last boat Nordic Star was an ex Admiralty boat that had a fortune in time and effort expended on a beautiful interior. She's let down by a beautiful Gardner 6L3, and I say let down because the 114 hp offers about 7 knots flat out, a bit underpowered, but fine for tottering from one watering hole to the next! She is currently for sale again with Williams and Smithells, asking £100k but I sold her for a lot less than than and there's no reason why he should expect more.

That's probably the biggest point, there is no established market like a production boat, offering half the asking is a good start!
