Henry

I think unfortunately things got off on the wrong foot - the idea of a new design was probably the catalyst there and however well intentioned was bound to irritate some sections of the community who'd been around a long while. I thought that once all that was resolved the battle would fade into forum folklore...

Is there not going to be a new design then? I know I'm not the only person who finds the mouse and glass one rather tacky.

The original design is being used.

I am aware of Haydn's circumstances and hope I've reflected that in the tone and civility of my responses.

Henry :)

I would agree, but I have a foot in the other camp, out of loyalty to my late Mum, with my Dad. He can be the most cantankerous & selfish old sod going, & bloody rude at times too. But if you see through all that, most of it is a cry for help. i.e. read do I have to do it if its going to be done properly, as please let me do it but help me get it right ? My dad all over.

If anyone is desperate for a forum burgee I have one in excellent condition - no use to me now the boat is up for sale:(

As my mum drilled into me, there's no excuse for downright rudeness, one shouldn't take your own circumstances out on someone else. Constructive criticism is fine but not in the tone Haydn has used.

Haydn, hopefully you don't mind me asking this but you tend to post such things in the wee hours, with all respect, have you quaffed a few drinks when doing so? if yes, may I suggest considering keeping the laptop lid closed at those times if it results in the sort of posts aired in this thread.

You are probably right Gary and unfortunately Haydn isn't the only one.

If you don't accept it then feel free to open the debate again. Personally I don't give a toss about the design but I do care that the argument always ends up in some people getting upset. Which to me is more important than a little flag.

fairy snuff Pete, YBW had best close the lounge based on that principle then ;)

Agreed, but sometimes, if you make allowances for people, where others do not, the results can be very satisfying, as can riding a bike to help others. Life doesn't have to be a battle, we're not here long enough to waste time on the bits we don't enjoy.

I've had a couple, still have one flying now but it is looking a bit tatty. I would welcome an update to something a bit more stylish.
