Henry

Did you ever get round to sapling the flag.

I've been really bad about this. No excuses, just let loads of other stuff get in the way. I do have some forum burgees which will be coming available soon. These have ended up as a sort of pre-production limited edition collectors edition.

I will try to get the website sorted next week and post a link on here.

Henry :)

So all talk no action.Ive given you the phone number, all you have to do is ring him.

You can do the talk, but not take the walk.,

Get a grip.

You have been given a job which most folk value, you also asked for the opertunity to do it. You have fallled miserablly

Do I really have to get out of my sick bed to sort the job out.

Go ahead, it will probably do you good. I think Henry had good intentions, but if like me, has enough to do trying to keep all the balls in the air. I'm sure he would be grateful if you took the reigns back.

And a very happy new year to you as well Haydn

As I explained at the time my intention is to do slightly more than just get some burgees made and post them out. I want to create a little e-commerce site which can be managed by whoever is in the driving seat at the time. It removes the burden of taking orders etc.

Over the winter there are fewer boats out on the water so not quite as much pressure time wise but yes, it is about time I got the site up and running. We already have some burgees and have had them for some time now.

Cripes!!! I thought boaters were supposed to be friendly types.

Henry, I honestly don't know how you remain so polite in the face of such hostility. You are a better man than me.

I think telling someone that you can do a job way better/faster/leaner than they ever did (very publicly) and then doing nothing after a lot of hot air and telling people how great you are is also pretty rude

I agree with you. In my defense the winter months have been with us and many people have their boats ashore at the moment. Given there hasn't been a single point of access to burgees on here for some time I would question the absolute urgency. I do want to offer something a bit longer lasting than people getting in touch, sending a stamped addressed envelope & a cheque then having it returned with a burgee.

It isn't actually me personally who will be building the little e-commerce site and that is the crux of the problem. All those times when you could just potter away and get it sorted I haven't been able to because it's above my pay grade. Rest assured it is front and centre on my to-do list now :)

Henry :)

I don't think there is any urgency at all to be honest.
But then I didn't feel that there needed to be reform of the system or and e commerce element through a shiny web portal. I was always happy with the PM and send a cheque method.

That said I have two flags and no boat so I'm unlikely to need one for a while.

My point was you had a very public spat where you castigated HLBs practises and methods and proclaimed to anyone who would listen that you were going to do it better, faster, cheaper before going quiet.

I understand the winter thing. I understand life gets in the way. But then no-one forced you to make the big splash that you did and make the claims/criticisms that you subsequently went on to do.

We like to please, its in our nature. It why so many salesman over promise and under deliver.

To be fair at the time of "the thread" there wasn't a way to get burgees via the forum and still isn't. So it's not a case of trying to replace something, rather re-establish and in doing so updating the process.

Let's see what we all think in a couple of weeks.

Henry :)

I think unfortunately things got off on the wrong foot - the idea of a new design was probably the catalyst there and however well intentioned was bound to irritate some sections of the community who'd been around a long while. I thought that once all that was resolved the battle would fade into forum folklore... I certainly hope it won't resurface as I feel that everyone's contributions here are valid and worthwhile and it would be serving no purpose to trawl it all up again.

Lack of action was a valid point and Henry's said he'll get things moving, so perhaps we can quietly drop the hatchet over the side somewhere and move on? :)

Perhaps a little compassion should be shown for someone who has been forced to sell what was pretty much his life (boat) due to Ill health & then who lost his wife (a well known forum contributor) through yet more Illness !
If it were me, I would keep the original design & get the shiny web thing to make it easier, then hand it back with a little support if needed, but hey ho.

The original design is being used.

I am aware of Haydn's circumstances and hope I've reflected that in the tone and civility of my responses.

Henry :)
