Henley Regatta

If the organisers are quick then maybe Olivia Harrison (Friar Park) or maybe Remenham Place (as private locations) could host the firework display - both venues easily visible for a firework display from the river. Don't know how long it take to set this sort of thing up though.

I'm sure they've thought of it , but why not drop them an email , just on the offchance they haven't ....

Some of the best times of my life have taken place under the Henley fireworks .... /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif

I'm sure you could say the same thing Rich , everything always led up to the fireworks , didn't it ?

Remember trying to be the first one up the regatta course to get prime position ?

Yeah it started at 0900 and finished when we were allowed to moor up!

Great shame though what about the festival are they still having the fireworks there?

Yes, every night Wednesday through to Saturday according to the programme.

Maybe it was an unexpected event after-all the regatta is relatively new to the town....

I have spoken with a mole...

The event was very expected. The trouble is that Wokingham end up footing the bill for the policing when while the event benefits Henley, on the other side of the river. So they don't want to pay for it and have found an excuse not to. A bean counter has spotted this and there is allegedly a stand off between the two respective councils. Should we ask Private Eye to dig deeper?

I dont blame them, I have never understood why the EA dont demand a much bigger chunk of dosh from the regatta what with them taking over the river.
