Help to Navigate the Thames Estuary

We went direct to Eastbourne. Long day and if the forecast had been correct a nice sail, however, a F6 made it a bit bumpy!

Impressed if you did Eastbourne in a day - presumably you mean a full day - ie around 20 hrs or so?! Did this route last year and probably heading out to do the same (BOC to the Hamble) in early August. Typical southwesterlies often mean a period of motorsailing when coming round the corner at Dover but it is a fun trip (apart from the slightly boring bit between Dover - Chichester!)

My favourate route is to punch the tide down to Crouch No4 to arrive there about half an hour before HW springey... (not neepey)... Turn right straight at Margate Sands. Over the top of all the mud flats.

Mind I only draw 1.1m.
