My foredeck had 2 tiny yellow spots at L'Aber wrach. They look like rust but are more yellow. We are now in St Peter Port and there are hundreds of them and they don't wipe off. If anything they are growing in size. There has been spray on the deck and a lot of sea weed in the water.
Has anyone seen this effect and know the easiest method of removal?

I think I'd try oxalic acid or Y10 but if you have any acid limescale removers such a Cillit Bang Lime and Grime or a limescale removing toilet cleaner try those.

You should be able to get Y10 from a local chandlers.

If its related to the seaweed a hypochlorite bleach might be effective

You must contact the Port Health Officer and secure to a designated Quarantine Berth. No-one is allowed ashore without the specific consent of the releavnt PHO. Failure to comply carries eye-watering penalties...... to say nowt about 'angina of the wallet'.

I have just tried Y10, but it has no effect.
I have also bought a Flash spray with bleach. No effect either.
We haven't see a single bee since leaving Quiberon.
We do have quite a few spiders and there is some suggestion that it may be their droppings?
Any other suggestions. It is on the non slip as well as the shiny white gel coat.

I have seen this before. It is caused by sea spray polluted with dolphin shit and is impossible to remove. International do a very attractive yellow paint which will cover it.

perhaps it was a jet evacuation, so much better than having a truculent cow land on the foredeck! remember that story?

About the size of a penny? I've noticed similar appearing on my transom in Jersey. There were 3 or 4 a couple of days ago, now there are a dozen or so. I'm moored stern to in the marina and haven't been anywhere, so looks like whatever it is is airborne.

Mine are 2mm in diameter except for a couple about 3. Those were the ones I saw originally. Now I see hundreds of tiny yellow spots. However, they are mostly under rigging and pushpit so may be spider droppings.

I think I may have a few of these as well in the corners of the cockpit after returning from the West Country a couple of weeks ago. I had assumed they were rust spots and was going to tackle them as such, but now you mention it, they are a bit too yellow.

Boat also in France. Been there for 8 years now and never seen so many of these yellow spots before and I am sure they are spider poo. Clean off with seroius elbow grease, scrubbing brush and cream cleaner Jif/Cif.
