Help! 'Still Looking' for Colvic Watson Jura 35 named 'Pride of Jura'

Nothing wrong with your phone picture mate, next time try and get a few closer 'IF' possible I want to look at what's been changed especially the wheelhouse.

folk at crinan canal may have details or memory of the boat that went up in flames? or crinan hotel. or local police? might be worth a phone call or two, or an excuse for a beer there...

do you know roughly when, cos i'm up at tayvallich now and again, can ask around. (and any boat fire around crinan may get confused with the boat yard fire there about 25 years ago)

I remember seeing her badly burned and with a floating boom around her - it would have been '98 or '99 I think, certainly NLT 2000. I'm afraid I can't remember whereabouts on the canal other than she was on the north side at that time (I was west bound, and remember her on my starboard side). Good luck.

Edit: When I say 'her', I'm pretty sure it was a CW35 hull, but I don't recall a name I'm afraid.

Hi Goldie

The boat you may have seen was the Maid of Jura (sister boat)which blew up on the Crinan Canal basin on 9th August 2000 due to a gas leak, there was only six of the famous Jura Class ever built of which I have tracked down them all now.

I have information regarding the whereabouts of another Jura class Colvic Watson which may interest you!

My Great Uncle is the current owner of the Colvic Watson 35 'Maid of Jura'. He and his brother purchased it as a renovation project some years ago and have done considerable work to repair it. However, my uncle is now too elderly to complete the restoration and is currently hoping to sell it as an on-going project. The boat is currently in the Southend area. Let me know if you'd like further information.

Many thanks for your interest, the first one on ebay is NOT one of the Jura Class there was only six built and I now know where they all are, I informed the seller it was not a Jura class but I see the advert still says so, as I say to many 'do your homework' before viewing a Colvic Watson to make sure you know what you are buying.

The second CW advertised a so called CW 32 is actually a CW 31'-6" as there is no such CW as a 32' (unless a bowsprit has been added) and she 'looks' to be a good buy for someone

Yes, the second one has been in the car park close to my pontoon in Chichester marina since, I think, early summer. She arrived looking vey dull but has been spruced up. For 31'6" she looks enormous.

The first one on ebay is my old boat (seven years of great happiness). The person who bought her is using some of my personal photos made when I sold her, and has not replied to emails. She was in excellent fettle when sold....
