Does anyone have a contact name for a general engineer/electrician in the Plymouth area? I cannot belive the apathy i am encountering in trying to get people to even discuss work i need doing on my boat. If i ran my business the way some of the people i have spoken to run theirs i would'nt be able to afford a rowing boat. I don't think this is a seasonal issue i struggled last year as well. are the margins that great that marine engineers only work part time? Please help.

There is a guy called Adrian Barlow who has a base at Mayflower Marina who comes highly recommended.
Does electrical/electronics stuff and is very reliable I am told.
Sorry I don't have his number, but the marina (+44(0)1752 556633 or mayflower@mayflowermarina.co.uk) will be able to give you a phone number, I am sure.

I too am amaised at the operational standards of the whole marine industry,Plymouth is indeed no better than the rest. There also seems to be a lack of choice in plymouth. To be fair on the other hand. I know that the guy who looks after my boat has great difficulty finding good engineers. Mind it's not every one who wants to spend there lives groveling about in the bottom of a boat. Ther reason I dont do more mending my self is because I've ceaced to bend in all the right places. Boat engineers it would seem therefore, need to be a very knowledgeable double jointed 20 year old.

My mechanic tells me, he works on the priciple of, those who shout loudest get the job done. Not my way I know. Hope this helps!!

PS. No you cant have his number. How the hell do you think I'm going to get mine mended.../forums/images/icons/laugh.gif

Thanks Gents, And you Haden. Some way to build a friendship when you will not provide the name of your engineer. You don't need him anyway, not seen your boat move for weeks. read your novel on ditch crawling, wow! is everything you have fun with long and thin?
