I have purchased a 12v Ceramic Heater rated at 250 watts . The very limited installation instructions recommend hard wire directly to the battery via the cable and connectors supplied via a 25 amp fuse. Installing in this way would restrict where the heater can be positioned in the cabin so I would prefer to connect via a plug and with a socket wired to the battery. I know a cigar lighter type connection would not have sufficient ampage and so would welcome any advise as to how to install and what size/rating plugs and sockets to use please.
I am not too confident with boat electrics so any advise , even 'get a marine electrical engineer to install' would be appreciated. Thanks Ian

You will need to make sure the plug and socket you fit is rated at 25a and then make sure the cable supplying it is suitable to carry the load (cable size will depend on distance) and more importantly needs to be fused 25a at source, this should protect the whole circuit safely
