Any advice on how to remove black mould/mildew marks from curtains anyone? I realise you may have to consult SWMBO but your comments would be appreciated - esp as the care instructions say "dry clean only".

I had black mould on my boat due to condensation, it was on the carpet lining and other internal fabrics & trimmings. I got it off with ordinary domestic bleach diluted with water. I soaked a sponge in it and rubbed hard. There were strong chlorine fumes given off as I worked. Afterwards I added more ventilators to my boat to allow a through-draft and the mould/mildew hasn't so far returned.

Wash gently and you'll get most of them off. I put mine in the washing machine every year on a cool wash, but even so there are still some spots. Unless the curtains are very special a little wash won't do any harm. Oh, and increase your ventilation.

Use Dettox

Dttox is a propriatory mold remover. It is mainly bleech with something added that really works.

We tried bleach on our curtains - only partially successful - we then tried dettox - perfect. It also seems to prevent the reoccurance too.
