help petrol to diesel conversion

I presently have twin Volvo Penta AQ131's (petrol) with SP CD Trim in an Atlanta 27, I am wishing to convert to twin diesels. I have been told that the Volkswagen LT diesels should fit the outdrives but I do not know if that is in fact the case. Could anyone help me with information on which diesel engines would be a suitable replacement. I would like to keep similar performance as at present, so smaller turbo units would probably be necessary with suitable propellor pitch etc.

I swapped 2 V**vo (cant bear to mention the word!) AQ171's for 2 140hp turbo diesels. Great engines and Mike helpful all the way along
