Does anyone have a fresh water pump for an old VP 21B as fitted to a 1982 Hallberg Rassy 42? I think the engine was basically a marinised Peugeot diesel -?from the old 405 car.

I am having trouble trying to find a replacemnent for mine.

I think it's the rarity of these pumps that make these engines obsolete. However, I belieive the engine is a Peugeot XDP4/90 so maybe try to source a pump from peugeot.

There are still some rebuild parts available from marinepartseurope, at a price:

Sadly the VP fresh water/circulation pump and the Indenor-Peugeot one are two completely different beasts, albeit they do fit the same engine:

Rebuild looks like the only option.

No help to you, I know, but I also had the water pump fail on my 1981 HR94, VP MD17C (also Peugeot-based) this year and a replacement was unavailable. The very competent and knowledgeable mechanic here in Italy said they are no longer produced and only a reconditioned one could be obtained, which he sourced locally and fitted for me.

I've heard before that Volvo Penta stop making spare parts long before the engine's natural life-span.
