Help - painting pedestal/windlass

Hi,

I have a Westerly Conway 1977 and the pedestal (binnacle??) and windlass need to be repainted.

Couple of questions:

- What is the pedestal made of ? Seems to be some sort of alloy.

- What primer should be used after stripping to bare alloy?

- Any suggestions for topcoat - advice so far is Jotron 2 pack epoxy

- S&L Hyrspeed windlass, also some sort of alloy - same as pedestal?

There are some repainting instructions on the Edson site here. I used Hammerite (with their primer for alloy) on a windlass, successfully so far.
