I'm in need of some advice! We have a boat with a pair of D6 350's and somehow the trim gauges have gone out of Sync. The port drive trimmed all the way in goes to -9 on the gauge and the starboard only -5.

This is a recent change and has only come about after the boat was lifted for the gear selector to be changed, the standard d6 actuator issues, this forum was extremely helpful in the diagnosis of that problem.

I have downloaded the PDF that shows you how to calibrate the EVC C system but I'm worried about trying to calibrate the drive trim with boat in the water. My concern is that in calibration mode the drives won't stop until the hit the platform?

The calibration mode states that you have to trim the drives both up to their maximum and then trim back into their physical stop.

Has anyone had to do this or have my advice for me. The problem with the gauges being out of sync is if cause trimming the boat. The drives also have the tie bar and I'm worried about damaging this.

Any ideas ir advice would be greatly appreciated!!

Thank you.

Its OK to calibrate them in the water, obviously you will have to do them together on account of the tie bar, I'd suggest you have someone on the swim platform to tell you when to stop, you don't have to go to the maximum if the platform prevents this, its the lower sector you are mainly interested in, the software will use the max up and max down as its end points so instead of going to 50 deg up you may have 40 deg. The drives will only move in cal mode while you press the button so it won't run away and hit the bottom of the platform.

No easy answer to that, these things just happen sometimes, if a recal doesn't fix it then it could be a dodgy trim sender, easy to change as they are mounted inside the engine room on the end of the trim cyl anchor pin, of it could be the pinch bolt on the left hand trim cylinder needs tightening it twists the trim cyl anchor pin, but that is external.
