Help needed on a VP270 drive

Tis doing my head in now and i can usually work these things out but i am in need of it sorting as this weekend i will be cleaning the drives down.

I have two Volvo Penta 270 out drives that i want to part strip down, I am stuck though on removing the H frame

anybody give me an idea how to strip this part down please. I hate to think but hope its not a gadget that only specialist use. I can make it i guess aslong as i know a spec to make it to.

are we talking about the universal joint/drive shaft or something else. ?

Although i think i have sussed it out. I was told tat the H frame can be removed by driving the bush out from the top.
Now that confused me as there is nowhere for it to go to. I see the the lower part of the drive has to be unbolted from the middle then the tube/bush can be pushed out downwards.

When asking for advice in some places folk can make things worse. My own fault for being to over cautious as not wanting to damage the leg at all. dam costly to break.

Ill make a ally drive to knock it out.
 
a workshop manual is essential particularly as there is a lot of shimming involved in rebuilding these legs and the information is all there
 
I have a workshop manual and as much use use as a wet fart.


Ill not be stripping completely, just want to blast it and repaint it. I have order a length a of ally to turn down to make a drift to get the sleeve out. better than most do and use a socket. shame it wont fit under my fly press.
 
have never taken that bit apart.
seems a lot of extra work if it does not need to be dismantled merely for cleaning/shot blasting. ?
