Following on from the "Ideal Retirement boat" thread I noted what the boxes which my wife and I want ticked for our next boat, when we upgrade our current Moody.

I've got a list of essentials and nice to haves, as noted below. So what boats should be on our shortlist?
Budget wise - the better value the better, but lets say nearer £50k than over £100k

Essential
  • Plenty of "Dry" storage in the boat for provisions
  • Plenty of "Wet" storage for ropes, fenders, bicycles etc
  • A nice view whilst at anchor whilst sat in the saloon.
  • Dodger to get right out of the inclement weather whilst on watch with a clear view - none of the normal murky vinyl windows
  • A place to take foulies off before going below, keeping the living area dry
  • Protected rudder
  • Plenty of anchor chain stowage & able to manage it remotely - don't need to keep poking chain to stop it piling up
  • Big water tanks so not having to visit a marina every 2 weeks to fill up.
  • Enough berths for 4 - happy with one good sized double and two singles.
  • Good sea berth(s)
  • Sails well
Nice to have
  • Both myself or my wife able to get out of bed without clambering over the other
  • Hard dodger to get right out of the inclement weather whilst on watch
  • Able to keep watch down below in the warm when the weather turns really crap
  • Lifting keel / bilge keel to sneak in hard to reach places / able to dry out?
  • Elevated saloon so get a nice view whilst at anchor
  • Boom > 6'6" over cockpit floor (I'm 6'4")

Thanks

There's a very tidy Westerly Konsort with a hard dodger a few moorings from Jissel that would tick quite a few of your boxes, though I suspect going two weeks without topping up the water wouldn't involve a lot of showering, and I suspect a V-berth falls a bit short of getting out of bed without clambering. All the same, at that sort of budget you'r probably not going to do a lot better.

On a substantially more generous budget, Is there an RM with a proper bedroom? If not, maybe a big Sirius or a Southerly? Otherwise, I reckon it's going to be a cat.
