I have no idea where Ipswich is? Darkest end of eastern England I suppose. 
And I am to far away to help.
I have moved my own boat a few times. I found each of those trips to be amongst the best and most memorable. We have ever done.
I agree with the suggestion to take a few days rather than try and rush it. The best argument it to get the most enjoyment out of it, take the time to stop in a couple of nice spots and relax. Visit a couple of the local restaurants or pubs.
You have up to 8 weeks to get ready. I would suggest booking a day skipper course. some time in the next 8 weeks. Do the theory and practical. You plan to do it anyway.
While you are doing the theory or if you already have the theory. Prepare your own passage plan. pick a couple of nice spots to stop.
The act of preparation will help you to familiarise yourself with where you are going and what to expect on route.
I like a good cruising guide. There must be lots for the S. of England. Get the required charts and pour over them at the dinning room table.
A mistake I made in the past was trying to find the things I needed in a strange town when it would have been easy in my own stomping ground. So get what you need ahead of time.
When you get possession of the boat arrange to be able to stay for a while. It will give you a chance to get to know the boat.
If you have a survey done, be there if you can. I found it really helped to chat with the surveyor.
Give yourself a chance for you to get the feel of the boat. So you are comfortable with how things work and where they are. It will certainly help your confidence. Some people find a good check list helps.
Take an opportunity to have a short run out and back to current berth. I found the broker and seller very helpful. when I bought my boat a long way from home.
Then when you feel ready. Pick a few nice days or long weekend and off you go.
Who knows? You might even find new friends on a course willing to help.

Thank you, great advice which I will definitely follow. Regards the Day Skipper, likelihood is it will be own boat training for the Day skipper with my wife on board to do some crew work.
I have to finish raising the finance but am champing at the bit. I am a PM and PM trainer by trade and so actually enjoy planning and drawing up lists and checklists even to the extent of ensuring I have the relevant tools, spares etc. I intend to have a pre-cruise checklist that goes a bit further than WOBBLE to include radio on and so much more.

If i were in a ´new to me’ boat and could take only one crew member i would choose someone who knew their way around marine engines and electrics. And tell them to bring their tool bag. I would also go over the previous owners paperwork and receipts that should give you an idea of the problem areas and if they have been resolved. You say you are a «*PM trainer by trade*», if Brown and May are examples of your work then perhaps you should also notify the Coast Guard of your passage plan

Who are Brown and May? Problem with many PM's is they lack the attention to detail and estimate by using the finger in the air technique . My reputation was, "he gets things done".

Thanks for the offers including the PM's I recieved. I had asked for help moving as one sea school stated that it wasn't possible to do the move and Day Skipper together. Since then, I have found at least 3 schools that are prepared to do it and say that it is also a good idea and so it looks like the problem is solved.

Much appreciated. The reason I was looking for help was because I had spoken to one chap at a sea school and he had told me that I couldn't so the DS and move the boat in the 5-days. I have since spoken to 3 different sea schools and they are not only happy to do it but they think it is a good way to do it and that there will be plenty of time to fit in the exercises. Therefore, if all goes well I will be doing a combined move and DS at the same time. I appreciate the offers though.
