Is the environment in a boat engine bay really that bad ?
I have been working in the engine bay today and it's not at all wet and quite comfortable. But windy and raining outside.

Is this a chance for you to show a photo of your engine bay again? Unfortunately not all engine bays are like yours. Mine will always just a litre or two of water left in that a bilge pump cannot remove. I can dry it out but after a few days in the winter rain there will always be some more. Some of my cockpit drainage goes out the boat some back into the bilge. A green house tube heater has little effect on condensation so in winter it is a humid place with condensation on the undersides. Not wet, but humid.
