T'council are completely renewing Blackheath Boating Pond with concrete base and everything. I obviously need a suitable craft to set sail upon these new crusing grounds. I spose i cd have a couple of Pico's - and race across it repeatedly. Or is there a suitable micro-Galleon which being near Greenwich of course wd be extremely appropriate and guaranteed not to get chucked off by the oi! parkies. I reckon max draft 2 feet really.

One of these Cutty Sark models would be appropriate methinks.......

You know when I am an experienced boatbuilder with several self-builds behind me, I am going to make a 25ft replica of Cutty Sark.

Can you imagine how excited the kids would be?

I saw something simliar on the Hamble once, anyone know anything about it?

Electron by Des Townson. One Design class. Most of the Americas Cup syndicates bought fleets of them when they were here. Great fun, easy to rig and stowe aboard and seaworthy too. Des ships them worldwide if you're interested.

Think what you need is a Poole Punt - flat bottomed, come in various sizes. Suggest fitting leccie outboard and duck cannon on bows to fetch BBQ lunch and terrorise parkies. Suggest also, heavy fishermans anchor in order to test the robust build quality of concrete pond base. Good luck in your new life - I look forward to next YM and feature on tricky inland ports, novel shopping trolley avoidance techniques and Colregs implications. Perhaps a wole new regular feature - 'A question of pondmanship' or perhaps just 'pondlife'....
