Hi all

Can any of you recommend a electric outboard for me to buy, i have a petrol one but want to try a electric one to start with for my son to use on the tender on his own once i have trained him

It doesn't need to push us along at great speed its just to mooch around the marina and get to shore when anchored in lulworth etc etc.

Has anyone got a particular make or model they have been using and are very happy with, also what sort of power output would you recommend for a 2.3 mtr tender and would i need a short or long shaft version

Thanks again

Torqeedo is a brand to look at if your pockets are deep. Smaller ones with integral lithium battery would suit your needs but not cheap!

We have a mini Koto 55 & we bought it for the same reasons - kids safety. Also not all that comfortable storing petrol onboard. We have a little Seago 240 tender & it c an move 4 of us fine over short distance .It is nowhere near as fast as a petrol but kids are safe if they want to go out for a mess about .It ia a fraction of the cost of Torqeedo - make sure you get the sea water version.battery lasts 3 hours - recharge on shore power or generator - makes it free.lasted 5 years now no problems stored in a wardrobe out of sight on motorboat as no oil or smell- hope this helps oh one more thing it starts every time doddle for wife or kids to start ie button says on !http://www.amazon.co.uk/Minn-Kota-1363820-Riptide-

I've got the Flover version which I believe is pretty similar to the mina koto one. Perfect for what you want, just don't go anywhere with any tidal flow! They're great for sneaking up on people too!
