Can anyone help with this please? A mate of my dad's (a compulsive magpie!) has unearthed what looks like a small marine gearbox in his garage. On it, we can make out "Volvo Penta". MS2B 852715 and 310 101 2176.

He thinks it's 2.37 :1

What sort of sized (power output) engine might this be fitted to? Is there any way of testing it off the boat? Are these the sort of gearboxes that have internal cone clutches? Anything else to look out for?

I had an MS3B on my last boat coupled to a VP TMD40A rated at 124HP. Looking at the Previous reply link ths MS2B looks very similar.

Had to rebuild mine, couldn't find a manual so I wrote one.

Cost to replace was shocking, but I saw one go for about £350 on EBAY.
