I’ve a hand pump which which drains the galley sink (and the bilge via a diverter valve) which is leaking around the pump shaft. Can anyone give any pointers as to the make/model so I can try to find information about it and spares for it? I can’t see any visible markings on it but assume it was fitted around 1984. Many thanks.

Looks like a generic brass hand pump - there were loads around. I think your chances of getting spares for a pump which is almost 40 years old are slim. Probably easier to replace it.

Thanks everyone for the advice. It turns out that when you pull it out (which was far from straightforward, even by small boat standards), hidden surfaces have clues to what it is!

Unless anyone has other suggestions I’ll try some of the numbers in this old thread: Whale Mk2 1.5" Brass Pump Parts?

Update to this. I sent an email to Eddie Gimore (contact details in post #12 of the thread linked above) and had an original Whale service kit in my hands less than 48 hours later. Highly recommended.

The part I needed was actually a gland with quite a specific U-shaped profile and sizing, so I doubt many other seals but the original would have fitted.
